Tonight USC Offensive Coordinator, the 31 year old Lane Kiffin signed a 5 year deal to be the Head Coach of the Oakland Raiders.There is so much I want to say but it boils down to this: alot of Al Haters and so-called Raider Fans have apologies to make... The Great Al Davis fools them all and it pisses the haters off even more...
The coverage on ESPN Radio tonight would have been laughable if not so transparently unprofessional... all they can say is Al Davis had to settle for Kiffin because Sark rejected him... they have to make it a no-win because they just can't stand the fact that Kiffin was in many corners the stronger candidate than Sark.
What insight can we gleen from the Kiffin hiring? Lane must have discussed it with his father Monte, the long-time Defensive Coordinator at Tampa Bay - and he must have gotten input from ex-Raider Head Coach Jon Gruden as well - and Kiffin still signed a 5 year contract with Al Davis.... Wait, that doesn't make any sense? That blows the media's whole premise apart... You know what I'm refering to: that Gruden could not put up with Al Davis any longer, and that the real reason Gruden left was Al, that the whole story of being closer to this family was just an excuse...that Gru would tell the young Kiffin "don't make the same mistake that I made".... Well what do the Haters say now?
I suppose we can expect that the slanted media and some moron "Raider fans" will now resort to making up other theories to support their agendas because after all, they drank the Al Davis Hater Kool-Aid...

PS. Apology emails are welcome from all those folks who sent me emails this weekend telling me how stupid I was and that Al Davis had lost it , that we will never get an up-and-comer, etc...

Nice post Tooz. Kiffin is a football-lifer just like his old man. It will be interesting to see who we get as OC and how the draft shapes up. Onward & Upward!
