Raiders Occam's Razor

All things being equal, the simplest solution tends to be the right one. I was as shocked as anyone to hear that Coach Lane Kiffin had cut 3rd round draft pick Q. Moses but I'm not going to go all ape-shit about it either...

Kiffin has said all along, no scholarships, what you do today is what counts. Early in Camp, Moses was a terror and received high praise from both Kiffin and DC Rob Ryan, but simply, that was before pads...

A mighty fall to be sure for Moses and really a wasted draft pick in hindsight - but hindsight is hindsight, its easy to look back, not so easy to look forward. This is precisely why Coach Kiffin is here - to bring this team forward...

Hey, if we pick a guy and he doesn't measure up in Camp, I would rather cut him quick and move on, than hold onto him and make him a Scholarship......AND the message is sent, the message that changes the culture - which is more important than any one pick...

Occam's Razor says Moses got outplayed... we all can admit that watching Clemons and Richardson's performance vs Moses' in the preseason games...

I would be remiss without a big thank you and best wishes to Zack Crockett... a great Raider, the biggest complement of all...the fans will miss you Zack!

One last point, if you could bear with me:

Why is it that so many fans say Al Davis Drafted Moses and Kiffin cut him? How about this: both drafted and both cut Moses... Al Davis as the owner and Lane Kiffin as the coach did their jobs... what is so hard about that?

Every time we draft a player with "freakish potential" its got Al Davis all over it? it was Al's move... blah blah freakin blah... everytime we draft a "lunch pail" guy its "Al let the coach pick that one"....blah blah freakin blah...

Sorry but these constant themes, peeve me off --- I expect it OUTSIDE the Raider Nation...

Right on about Moses being drafted & cut by Kiff & Davis together. Rob Ryan & D coaches probably had input as well.
As a Raider fan from the 60's I still can't believe that - "That's an Al Davis pick" is still cnsidered news. He owns the team...he can pick whoever he wants. Take it a step further, whether it be Madden, Flores, Gruden or even rat face Shannahan, they all agree that Davis knows football better than most people they know. What coaching staff wouldn't want to work for an owner as passionate about his team, incerdibly bright and so far ahead of his time?

Nice article, Moses was beat out by Richardson hands down. JR came from a quality program (Ohio State), JR is a bigger, smarter, and stronger player. He was also well coached at OSU, there defensive schemes are solid. He may not have the quickness of Moses but will be much better against the run! No secret Moses stinks against the run, which we struggled with last year. He was not a good system fit period.

Congrats to Jay Richardson!
